It’s a Sign! — July 15, 2008

I figured I might want to catch this last piece of evidence.  I don’t really know how everything else is gone and they left one of their signs.  :)   Random.

David got his IPhone on Friday!!  It’s so nice; I am in love with it too!  He is hogging it all the time so I hardly even get a chance to look at it, but it’s so cool.

He drove over to Longview on Friday morning to be there when the AT&T store opened.  (We don’t have a store in Marshall that sells them.)  The Great Texas Balloon Race was going on in Longview that weekend, so he got to watch hot air balloons in the sky the whole time he was driving over there.  LUCKY!  I would have loved that.  (Two years ago when I was doing bank training in Longview, I got to watch the balloons too.  That was really fun.)  Unfortunately, it was windy that morning, and a balloon almost crashed into David’s car!  He said he was driving along and the balloon was so low that he couldn’t tell if it was just going up or if it was coming down.  Just as he passed the balloon, it crashed onto the road behind him!  That would have been a scary story.  I’m sure the insurance would have loved it too – I’m glad it missed him.

Anyway, he got his phone and we love it!  The GPS is one of the main reasons we got it, and it has not disappointed us.  We went to Longview on Sunday and used it as we were driving around.  Of course, we pretty well know our way around Longview, but it was fun to just try it out and see what it could do.  We used it to navigate us from one Walmart store to another, hehe.  Longview has three supercenters (who knows why?) and there is one that we do not go to very often because it is far out of our way and we are never entirely sure where it is.  Go GPS!  Now we know!  I can see that we’ll be using that all the time.

I’m really glad that we got the iphone in time for our Dallas/Plano trip.  :)   Now we have no excuse to get lost.  We have GPS, a traditional Rand McNally map I bought (I wanted an overview of how the roads fit together) and also Brooke is cooking up a super cool top secret map of neato places.  We are mapped to the hilt.  The funny thing is that we’ll probably still get lost.  :)

As for me, I finally got suckered back into subscribing to Vegetarian Times.  I had a subscription about 5 years ago or so, but they started making me mad because all their recipes started featuring fake meat products.  ew!!  Who wants fake meat in their food?  It was getting on my nerves because they were spending too much time trying to be all things to all people instead of focusing on what should have been their core audience.  I let my subscription run out, but I guess they won me back with their new subscription offer: 2 years for $11!!!  That’s crazy!  That’s 24 issues…after they get through with postage, they’re almost PAYING me to read it.  So, I’ll give it another whirl.  I figure I can’t lose at that price.

Lastly, go see “Journey to the Center of the Earth“!  It’s great!!  Don’t bother if you can’t see it in 3-D though.  Well, that could be too harsh – the movie is cute regardless, but it’s just better in 3-D.  :)   Plus, Brendan Fraser is nice is any format, don’t you think?
